High Rollers Turns 9!

Well, would you believe it? Today marks our ninth year together! What an incredible achievement, and what a wonderful nine years it’s been. Remember our first tentative steps into streaming? Back in 2016, the world of TTRPG live plays was still a relatively new concept. Our first campaign - Lightfall - was rife with tumbling green screens, nap sneks, Glanodles and Granny Trell antics! We had no idea of the exciting journeys our five friends - Mark, Katie, Kim, Trott and Matt - would embark on.
And what a whirlwind! From nervously taking the stage at our first conventions to travelling to LA for the Stream of Annihilation and meeting Matt Mercer. The opportunities we were able to take part in during Lightfall were a dream come true for us. Sadly, our forever loved pal Matt stepped away from the table in 2017. We were then joined by our friend Tom, who became a permanent cast member after appearing as a guest player with his charismatic ranger, Reynard! And after a super fun and emotional 2 years, Lightfall reached its dramatic conclusion.
In 2018, we launched our second campaign: Aerois. And with a new campaign came a new player! We welcomed Rhi, who brought a first time player's perspective to our streams. From then on, we’ve continued to learn, grow and tell stories together.
Aerois saw some of our greatest real life changes. It weathered The Covid Years, where our table became digital (remember how we said it would be only temporary? Oh, sweet Summer child). We also built our very first High Rollers studio - generously crowdfunded by all of you! - and returned to streaming in person in April 2022. No more falling green screens!
2023 saw the launch of our third campaign - Altheya: The Dragon Empire. And, even though we've just crossed it's first birthday (see our birthday post here!), we’ve only just begun to explore Ilmera. Our biggest moment so far was treading the boards in our first live show at London's Adelphi Theatre in September 2024.
Through all of our ups and downs, our highs and lows, we always look forward to returning to the table. Whether it’s to share triumphs or to escape from reality and smack a BBEG in the face! Playing together has become such an integral part of our lives, and we are so incredibly lucky to have our own little corner of the internet that allows us to be ourselves and celebrate a hobby we adore. We’re super proud of the ‘home game’ atmosphere we’ve created and, in reality, it really is just that! A bunch of mates, who just so happen to stream their games.
We're also really proud of the friends we've made along the way! We’ve hosted an array of brilliant guests around our table, including Matt Mercer, Kit Buss, Bouphe, Alex Smith, Ravs, Dylan Sprouse, Scott Major, Myre, Aliona Baranova, Jasper Cartwright and the cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 - Tim Downie, Neil Newbon, Devora Wilde, Jennifer English, Samantha Beart, Theo Solomon & Amelia Tyler.
2025 is shaping up to be an equally exciting year for us. There’s lots of fun things to look forward to as a new year of adventure begins. We hope you’ll join us for more terrible dice rolling, bad puns, full table laughing fits and good ol’ fashioned TTRPG fun!
Most importantly, we really wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you. From admiring your fanart, to reading all your discord chats and YouTube comments, and chatting to you all at live events - we love how invested you all are in the stories we tell around the table. For that, we are all so extremely and eternally grateful. You play a massive part in making this community as great as it is. You are all shining examples of what a community should be. The way you look after each other, make newcomers feel welcome, share your passions and treat one another with such respect and kindness is admirable!
Our stories are fiction. Your actions are fact. And for that, we couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of you.
